Framework for Enabling Technology Supported Aged Care at Home
The evidence-based framework has been developed to help guide in-home aged care providers as they plan and deliver technology-supported services. Officially launched in Melbourne today, the Framework for Enabling Technology Supported Aged Care at Home was developed in partnership with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and Silverchain, Australia’s leading home care provider.
The framework provides a practical step-by-step guide for in-home aged care providers on how best to implement digital technologies when in their everyday service delivery. It was devised specifically for the Australian context following a series of research projects. This pioneering work was facilitated by the NARI-led Melbourne Ageing Research Collaboration (MARC) and made possible through funding from the Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) grants program.
The CHUFFTY APP can be aligned to the Framework and below are PDF downloads showing examples of the Chuffty APP and alignment to the Framework Checklists.
Note: In Home Care technology is not affiliated to, endorses or has any financial interests in NARI, ARIIA nor Silverchair.

CHUFFTY Alignment To The Framework
The CHUFFTY App by In Home Care Technology (IHCT) is designed to support independent living for seniors and individuals with special needs. It aligns with the "Framework for Enabling Care Technology at Home" developed by the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) and the Australian Research Institute for Integrated Approaches to Ageing (ARIIA). The framework outlines key principles for effective home care technology, and CHUFFTY demonstrates adherence to these principles through its features and functionalities.- 1. Person-Centered Design - CHUFFTY offers a user-friendly interface tailored for seniors, ensuring ease of use without requiring assistance. This design approach empowers users to engage with the app independently, promoting autonomy and confidence in managing their daily activities. ihct.com.au
- 2. Support for Daily Living Activities - The app enables users to log and track essential daily activities, including meals, liquids, medications, exercise, pain levels, and visitors. This comprehensive tracking supports caregivers in monitoring the individual's health and well-being, facilitating timely interventions when necessary.
- 3. Communication and Collaboration - Through the CHUFFTY Portal, users can share activity logs and health data with family members, caregivers, and health professionals. This feature fosters collaborative care, ensuring that all parties are informed and can contribute to the individual's care plan.
- 4. Monitoring and Alerts - The app includes functionality to set daily check-ins and notifications, alerting caregivers if there is no activity or movement within a specified period. While not intended as an emergency medical device, this feature provides an additional layer of monitoring to ensure the individual's safety. ihct.com.au
- 5. Data Privacy and Security - CHUFFTY prioritizes user privacy by ensuring that data is never shared with third parties and is encrypted on their servers. Users are advised to avoid storing sensitive personal information within the app, aligning with best practices for data security in health technology. ihct.com.au
- 6. Affordability and Accessibility - The CHUFFTY App is available for free, with an optional portal subscription at a discounted rate. This pricing structure makes the app accessible to a broader audience, supporting individuals and families in managing care without financial strain.
- 7. Continuous Improvement - IHCT encourages user feedback to enhance the app's features and usability. This commitment to continuous improvement ensures that the app evolves to meet the changing needs of users and caregivers.
